Oliver is a big piggy in need of a home with more space. The neighbors got him from a livestock auction, but he was around several other animals and became stressed and kept running away to the current house. It's a small neighborhood and he's going to need more space than they can provide. Oliver currently weighs an estimated 225lbs. He'd love to have pig friends to keep him company!
Oliver is a great gardener who tills up the land, roots, and fertilizes. He likes to have a blanket and fresh water and mud pit everyday. He likes to get in his big pool to cool off. He's very good with children of all ages. He's good with other animals & mostly good with dogs; sometimes he gets defensive around them. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together. Caution should be taken in any home with dogs.)
Oliver must have fresh, filled water daily. That goes for his pools and water bucket, too. He likes to sleep in a safe, quiet place. He sleeps under the deck or in his pig house at his current home. He will toss hay up in the air if you put a fresh flake in for him. Then he usually does a little dance to show his gratitude! What a cutie!
Transportation is available within 15 miles to the new home. He's traveled well.
Oliver is not altered so arrangements must be made to spay prior to adoption. Intact pigs do not make the best companion animals. Neutering prevents behavior issues and eliminates that classic boar odor. Altering piggies when they're young is safer and usually less expensive than waiting until it becomes a problem or a medical emergency.
If you are interested in adopting, please complete the application and mention the name, city, and state of the pig(s) you're interested in: https://www.pigplacementnetwork.org/online-adoption-application/
Qualified homes must 1) be in a zone friendly community, 2) locate a vet that will care for pet pigs, 3) own their home.
Donations to PPN are greatly appreciated so we can continue to help pigs.
