Pegasus Featherhips, aka Peggy Sue, is a lovely larger (estimated 200lbs) piggy in need of a new home with a pig-savvy caretaker. She's a very smart girl who needs someone that understands pig herd behavior and is capable of reinforcing that humans are "top hog". She tolerates smaller animals like dogs & cats, and was best friends with an old horse who passed away a year ago. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.) A home without kids or where kids don't have access to Peggy's living area is best. She needs a brave and patient family. She knows multiple commands: sit, stay, kiss, spin, back up, & leave.
Her mom is heartbroken that she has to give her up. She's said this about her: Peggy is absolutely brilliant and lovely to me. She sits and stays, gives kisses, and loves belly rubs. She knows her routine well, and is easy to manage bringing into and out of the barn on most occasions. However, she does get impatient and can be aggressive toward people other than myself. For that reason, she isn't suitable for children or people who are afraid of pigs.
Transportation is available to the new home.
Peggy Sue is not altered so arrangements must be made to spay prior to adoption. Intact pigs do not make the best companion animals. Spaying prevents unwanted litters, curbs behavior problems, and prevents uterine tumors.
If you are interested in adopting, please complete the application and mention the name, city, and state of the pig(s) you're interested in: https://www.pigplacementnetwork.org/online-adoption-application/
Qualified homes must 1) be in a zone friendly community, 2) locate a vet that will care for pet pigs, 3) own their home.
Donations to PPN are greatly appreciated so we can continue to help pigs.
