Pua in West Palm Beach, FL
Pua

Per the caretakers: Pua was brought into our care with the intention of becoming a permanent member of our ranch. However, he has shown intermittent reactive and unpredictable behavior toward people, including lunging and attempts to bite. As he is the only pig on the property, we do not have the ability to provide a pig-specific companion environment or the level of specialized management that may help address these behaviors. Because our ranch serves children and volunteers, maintaining a consistently safe environment is essential. After careful consideration, we have determined that we cannot safely keep him in this setting. We are seeking placement with an experienced adult-only home, farm, or sanctuary that is familiar with pig behavior and can provide appropriate structure, handling experience, and, ideally, appropriate pig companionship. While Pua can be calm and social at times, since his behavior can be unpredictable, we do not allow any child interaction and would not place him in a home where children have direct access to him.

Pua is a neutered outdoor male who has done well with dogs, goats, donkeys and chickens. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.) He has not been exposed to cats. He was originally a house pig, but after rescue 6 months ago, he has been an outdoor farm pig. He's harness trained and current on routine vet care. Pua follows you, comes when called, and loves belly rubs. He's very food oriented. He does not like to be moved if he is in the way (like in a door way that you need to get through) and he gets vocal.

Transportation is not available, so the adopter will need to make arrangements.

If you are interested in adopting, please complete the application and mention the name, city, and state of the pig(s) you're interested in: https://www.pigplacementnetwork.org/online-adoption-application/
